My Dearest Erline,

<poem>

I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me: I'd like to be the help that you've been always glad to be: I'd like to mean as much to you each minute of the day As you have meant, Sweetheart of mine, to me along the way. I'd like to do the big things and the splendid things for you, To brush the gray from out your skies And leave them only blue; I'd like to say the kindly things that I so often have heard, And feel that I could rouse your soul the way that mine you've stirred. I'd like to give you back the joy that you have given me, Yet that were wishing you a need I hope will never be: I'd like to make you feel as rich as I, who travel on Undaunted in the darkest hours With you to lean upon I'm wishing at this Easter time that I could but repay A portion of the gladness that you've strewn along my way; And could I have one wish this year this only it would be I'd like to be the sort of friend that you have been to me. (Edgar A. Guest)

Millions of thanks, Sweetheart, for the wonderful box of Easter goodies you sent. It is really and truly a good Easter this year, even if we are many miles apart because we both know it is the will of the Lord that we should be apart, but it will be a better Easter some time because we will be together.

Thanks another million for the Easter card and money order that arrived yesterday morning.

Did I ever watch you iron this or did I not more than likely.

A good couple out here is having us out for supper tonight. The husband was a blacksmith & for some reason he turned blind. The Elders who have had charge of Genealogy in the last 3 or 4 years have been working out their family work. Now we will fill out some sealing of Wives to Husband sheets and get that phase of the work done. Whenever we are out there she carries on some of the best food in the North Central States Mission.

This Friday is a holiday that is about as big as any one in the year for the ministers of the Gentile churches. Every hour of the day the collection plates go around. I was for two collections & there were lots of nickels and dimes in it (one plate out of 20 or 30). One can readily see that the Bible prophecies are being fulfilled when he listens to a sermon or two in any one of the churches. Then preach for doctrine the lust of men's hearts.

Erline I love you and know that we are doing work to help the only true organization in the world to roll on.

May the Lord grant us every righteous desire of our hearts.

Faithful forever to you,
Elder LeGrand
